Washing machines have a lot of moving parts pumps, bearings, control boards, door boot seals, suspension rods and when one fails, the whole machine stops doing its job. The good news is that most faults come down to a single component, and most components are far cheaper than a new machine.
Our technicians carry the most common washer parts on every van. When we come out for washer repair in Vancouver we can usually diagnose and fix in one visit. We also handle commercial washing machine repair across Greater Vancouver laundromats and multi-unit residential buildings get prioritised because a commercial washer going down affects a lot of people fast. Here are the six faults we get called about most.
Water sitting in the drum at the end of a cycle is the most urgent washer fault we deal with. You can’t spin, can’t open the door safely, and the clothes inside are sitting in a pool. Washer repair in Vancouver for a drainage fault is almost always a clogged drain pump filter, a blocked drain hose, or a failed drain pump. We carry pumps for every major brand on the van. Most of these are a same-day fix, and we test it through a full drain cycle before we leave.
Clothes coming out dripping after a cycle that supposedly ran? A weak or absent spin is usually a worn drive belt, a failing motor coupling, or a lid switch that’s not registering the lid is shut on a top-loader. Washer repair in Vancouver for spin problems can also point to an off-balance load sensor on front-loaders sometimes a simple calibration reset is all it needs. We check the mechanical components first and work inward from there.

Some movement during a spin cycle is normal. A machine that’s walking across the floor, banging off the walls of a laundry closet, or making a grinding metal sound is not. Washer repair in Vancouver for excessive vibration usually points to worn drum bearings, failed shock absorbers or suspension rods, or an out-of-level machine that nobody’s adjusted in years. Bearing failure in particular will keep getting worse until the drum seizes it’s worth fixing before it gets to that point.
Pressing start and getting nothing no display, no hum, no movement usually means a door latch that isn’t registering closed, a tripped circuit breaker, or a failed control board. On front-loaders the door interlock is a common failure point. Washer repair in Vancouver for a completely dead machine can also be a failed lid switch on top-loaders or a blown thermal overload on the motor. We run a full diagnostic before quoting you on anything.
An error code means the machine knows what’s wrong but every brand uses a completely different system. Samsung, LG, Bosch, Miele, Whirlpool, Maytag, and the rest all have their own codes and they don’t translate between brands. Washer repair in Vancouver for error codes starts with us knowing the exact code and the brand. Tell us both when you call and we’ll arrive prepared with the right parts rather than diagnosing on the fly.

We cover all of Vancouver for washer repair. Downtown, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, The West End, Kitsilano, West Point Grey, Shaughnessy, Fairview, South Granville, Mount Pleasant, East Vancouver, Commercial Drive, Grandview-Woodland, Riley Park, Dunbar, Kerrisdale, Marpole, and Hastings-Sunrise.
Most of our washer repair calls in Vancouver come from condos and strata buildings where the washer and dryer are stacked in a laundry closet typically a Samsung or LG front-loader in a newer Downtown or Yaletown tower. The drainage setup in these buildings matters a lot. A clogged filter in a stacked unit in a tight closet is a more involved job than the same fault on a standalone machine in a laundry room, and we come prepared for that.
In Kitsilano, Point Grey, and Shaughnessy we work on full-size front-loaders in dedicated laundry rooms Bosch and Miele pairs are common in that part of the city and need OEM parts to fix properly. In East Vancouver, Commercial Drive, and Hastings-Sunrise there’s a wide range older top-loaders that have run for fifteen years and are absolutely worth repairing, newer high-efficiency machines, rentals with whatever the landlord installed. We show up prepared for all of it.
We work on every major washing machine brand in Vancouver the Samsung and LG stacked units that are standard in most Downtown and Yaletown condos, the Bosch and Miele front-loaders common in Kitsilano and Point Grey, and the Whirlpool and Maytag top-loaders that have been doing solid work in East Van homes for years. If you’ve got a brand that isn’t listed, call us we work on all makes and models.

Most washer repairs in Vancouver run between $150 and $420 depending on the fault and the brand. Drain pump replacements, lid switch faults, and belt repairs sit at the lower end. Drum bearing replacements and control board faults are more involved and sit at the higher end. Our $100 diagnostic fee gets credited toward the repair if you go ahead you get the full quote before we start anything. Call (778) 653-6929 and we can often give you a rough estimate once you’ve described what the machine is doing.
Don’t force the door open or the water inside will go straight onto the floor. Most front-loaders have a small emergency drain hose behind a panel at the bottom front of the machine it’s usually a black rubber hose tucked next to the pump filter. Put a shallow pan or a towel underneath, then slowly open the hose to let the water out gradually before accessing the filter. If you’re not comfortable doing this, just call us. We deal with this every day and we’ll sort it quickly.
If it’s under 10 years old and the repair is less than half the cost of a new one, fixing almost always makes more sense. Most washing machines are built to run for 12 to 15 years. The most common faults drain pump, door seal, lid switch, drive belt are relatively inexpensive parts. Our technicians give you a straight answer. If the drum bearing has gone on a 12-year-old budget machine and the repair approaches the cost of a new unit, we’ll tell you to replace it.
A front-loader leaking from the door almost always means the door boot seal the rubber gasket that runs around the inside of the door opening has cracked, torn, or pulled away from its seating. It’s a common fault on machines that are a few years old, especially if the seal hasn’t been kept clean and dry. Small objects like coins and underwire can also puncture it from the inside. It’s a straightforward replacement if you have the right seal for the brand. We carry door boots for Samsung, LG, Bosch, Miele, Whirlpool, and the other major brands.
A grinding or rumbling during spin that’s getting progressively louder usually means the rear drum bearing is failing. This is a real repair the drum has to come out to access the bearing but it’s absolutely worth doing on a machine that’s otherwise in good shape. Left unaddressed, a failed bearing eventually seizes the drum entirely. The other possibility on top-loaders is a worn drive coupling or agitator dogs. We’ll tell you exactly which it is and what it’ll cost before touching anything.
Yes, we do this constantly. Stacked Samsung and LG front-loaders in Vancouver condo laundry closets are probably our single most common washer repair callout. The access is more confined than a standalone machine and the drainage setup varies building to building, but our technicians work in these setups every day. Let us know it’s a stacked unit when you book and we’ll come prepared with the right approach for it.
